Normally here in LA there’s never a day where people are inside waiting for the week to start over or end. There’s always something going on somewhat like your High Schools ASB club where parties, events and social gatherings are seven days out of the week. So lets not forget about Sunday Fundays the time where you get to overlook the work load of a 9-5 job or a novel sized script. With Sundays, typically you’d have your church going groups, but this is LA so you have your daytime brunches, your Farmers Market or your sea breeze beach junkies. Though what about the nights? Do you go home and do your ritual preparation planning for the Monday morning work week? No, as I mentioned this is LA and there never comes a break.
The W Hotel, right in between the Hollywood and Sunset strip or close enough, is open to tourist, guest and bar/restaurant patrons alike. Known for its beautiful decor, people regularly come for a drink or two oh heck or a bottle depending on where they want the night to go. On Sundays, people flock here, not to get laid while their partner might be out of town, but to come for Jazz Night. A cool hip and trendy night where industry professionals and curious cats come to unwind with some good music and burlesque performances from the soul sista Nikki Leonti

and her mind blowing voice. Every now and then she’ll invite other performances as well as celebrity guest, with just as much talent, but never more, onto the stage for a moment of I can sing too under the spotlight of admirers and fans. The living room lounge area accommodates bottle service and big money spenders depending on how close you want your view to be. The promoters who have yet to capitalize on their own personalized events, will bring their circle of friends and or clients to maximize the exposure of yet a crowded successful night. Every once in a while there might be a few hits or misses where your good nights are packed with celebrity guest, daper sharp men and gorgeous trendsetting females. Then on other nights, you might get more than too many hookers and trolls that strolled from off the streets where they most likely climbed a wall to pass security.
My good friend and fellow, BloggerThe McCord List, Actress, Entrepreneur, Rachel McCord, decided to throw her big birthday celebration at Sunday Jazz Nights. It was a last minute plan after attending her Yoga event the day prior in Manhattan Beach to promote Love Your Guts and Kavita Drinks, and since I missed my girl after being gone from traveling I made it an effort to attend her birthday festivities. I brought along Alison and Aubreeanna to bring more love to the atmosphere as if Rachel didn’t need anymore.
Look at this sexy bunch!
Once we arrived I saw Rachel had the perfect spot outside on the patio without being charged a ridiculous fee just to sit down. The group that had already been there felt like a group of friends that I had already known for years, as in most situations girls don’t necessarily become the best of friends right off the back. With Rachels radiance, there’s always going to be good company. Not long after we had arrived I knew we were in for a good time! Rachel had already had a few drinks and I was more than happy to be on her level of high energy, as she strutted the couch with her cute black too too party dress. Her birthday night had to of been one of the best nights considering the week prior was a major bust, hence the questionable guest attendance, I couldn’t keep my eyes off my social note pad seeking equal opportunity as a social blogger. Being that I’ve been around the Hollywood A-B listers as the new normal, coming from a bloggers perspective I also have a lot I want to blog about.
Hi Rick! (Rachels husband) Love you too, but can you scoot over to your right please? Thanks!
Ok, so you see that saucy caramel of a man in the back left corner? Yeah well that’s Charles Michael Davis who plays Marcel on the CW hit show The Originals. Again typically I’m use to this kind of stuff as it has always been a way of my life, but considering that I am a semi-fan of the show and he is a pretty damn dreamy guy, there wasn’t a chance I was going to miss this. In reality I would never approach him as I’d end up looking like a blubbering stuttering idiot,Yes the confident girls have their weaknesses too, so since my friend Rick was coincidentally sitting there….Click click. Another familiar face I made serious eye contact with wearing a fedora hat, had the presence of a charmer. I knew he looked familiar, but he also looked like every other Hollywood douche bag with serious good looks. I played it nonchalantly casually looking around until making eye contact with him again. Ok, so clearly this dress is working some type of magic, but I wasn’t interested I have my types. I again looked away and seconds later he disappeared. Later on in the night after doing the math Alison made me realize that I was casually looking at Eric Benet, Sex addict (Damn) and ex of the gorgeous Oscar winner Halle Berry.
Heart photo of Kid Cudi
Alison, Aubreeanna and I made our way inside to catch some of the performances from Nikki, her back up singers and her dancers. The place was packed and at one point while again being the observer that I am, I notied a few more faces. Kid Cudi, it might be dark and all but I see you! Some Americas Top Models, Season 2 Mercedes Scelba-Shorte, April Wilkner and one other whose face didn’t even out with me caring. We stayed in the living room area for a few minutes until they started playing Backstreet Boys and that became our que to leave. Sorry Nick Carter…those teeny bopper days are over.
Our group was definitely the eye of all attention as the spotlight was on Rachel and her bubbly mood. Both from the champagne and her personality.
I knew that it was time to get this party started as I took her away for a dance inside. To my surprise I then became the center of attention as she gave me quite a lapdance in front of the entire room or anyone who was pointing at the two females causing quite the scene. At this point I completely blacked everyone out as I know if given one wrong look they would’ve had a black eye. This was Rachels big day and she deserved it so I went with the flow and enjoyed my show. I knew we were around a bunch of prudes but from one prude to another, we all have a little freak in us, it’s just those who are willing to let it out. I absolutely love this girl and I wanted this to be her night. There were a few times that I had to stab a few people in the eye or even approach them like a bull if they tried to cross the line.
One little pre-madonna almost had a heel to the head when Rachel climbed on top of her husbands shoulders. The former cheerleader that I am, made sure to spot her so that way she wouldn’t have fallen back and hurt herself. I heard a little fairy voice behind me make a comment “if the witch fall”, and before he could finish his sentence, I turned around to let him feel my wrath. Clearly you see me standing here! So take some fairy dust to the face and disappear. Which in turn he did.
I had already gotten Rachel a small gift, but I wanted to share one other with her and her friends. So while she danced away to mingle with groups of people, I immediately grabbed one of the VIP hostess to bring her out a cake. I figured it would be nice to have something other than a count down to blutt out your age. I made sure that the entire group stayed near as my not so enthusiastic waitress failed to tell me that they actually had to make the cake. Oh boy, Server to server darling, you might want to tell me that ahead of the time that I place the order thanks. Rachel was tipsy and twinkling so time wasn’t of a factor, but I wanted this moment to be special for her. Moments later the hostess brought out a chocolate cheesecake which I thought would be perfect for such a sweet girl, plus I wanted a bite for myself.
As we started to sing we handed Rachel her one lousy bite of a cake and I was handed the bill of $9 dollars. For what?!? It’s not even Cheesecake Factory quality. Whatever, money’s not an option and I’ll even leave an extra $5 tip on top of your $1 gratuity. I guess that was for the candle. Rachel picked up the cake dropped it a couple of times on her cute dress as I thought Rick would lick it off, then from what I thought stuffed it in her mouth, until….
Noooooooooooooooo! Rachel tossed it in the fire pitt behind us. Um excuse me waitress I want my money back . Apparently Rachel didn’t like it and money then became the option of going down the drain, Womp womp. I just wish I could of still had a bite, so instead I just finger licked the caramel sauce that was left on the plate as if it were Charles Michael Davis. For the remainder of the night we all gathered around our precious Rachel and had conversations amongst each other. Rick told me of his surprise birthday plans he had arranged for her on the following day Lucky Girl. Even though I was unable to work out plans of getting her a table the atmosphere and environment worked out well. I had to get up at 5am the next morning so I couldn’t stay much longer, but one more thing we needed to do was take a picture of this great group of friends.
Peek a boo! Yes this was an amazing night
