Well here we are again.
I’ve been becoming quite familiar with the Mondrian Hotel and Sky Bar lately throwing routinely events. Since this location is the perfect venue so why not? It over looks the city, has a pool I’m surprised no one has fallen into, and has two bars while keeping it versatile.
This past week, I received an email stating that the Mondrian was holding another event like their last from last year where everything just seemed a little, well, bazaar. On my last post Glamour Bazaar , I was not really myself and just felt a bit mentally out of place, but this time around seemed more tamed.
As always there seems to be a host of hospitality for these types of events when half the time it just happens to be a name attached and nothing more. I expected no more nor less so I rsvped myself to the event and met my friend Carmen there.
We both arrived roughly around 8 pm and eased through the door after confirming our attendance. The ambiance was much better from the last event and the crowd of guest were your typical Los Angeles trendsetters.
Carmen and I immediately made our way to the bar to grab one of their specialty drinks mixed with an organic blend of cleansing beverages.
The Hibiscus Retreat was right in my alley.
Surprisingly, there wasn’t a long line for drinks unless guest were making themselves more comfortable upstairs, but the real chaos was at the photo booths. Guest were lined up at both sides of the temple 3D background making it a little difficult to cut our way through without having to bogart.
Eventually Carmen and I were able to get ourselves in although I went the extra mile to do my own photo shoot after watching other groups of friends. It was a tad bit awkward having the upper level magnify my every move, but then again I can’t say I’m not flattered.
To be truthfully honest, the line to send ourselves the photos was more chaotic than the line to take them. Somewhat of a push and shove notion, but I kept an eye at all the photo magic that I couldn’t help myself to take photos of my own.
We made our way inside a tented area that’s normally meant for vendors to use as their own pop up shop where guest can purchase items for half the price in comparison to their retail. One familiar brand I recognized from the last event was Amies LA Vie who had their Spring line out. Just as cute as they were before I was even more tempted in whipping out my credit card, but unlike many of my friendly peers, I’m not much of a frivolous spender.
Another brand that was nice enough to give me a gift as a token of their appreciation was Kopari whose line focuses on the organic nature of coconut oil. That’s what I fully live by. Hair, skin and nails and even the food I cook, I use coconut oil. Their paradise beach vibe just set the mood for comfort for their line of beauty and I will definitely make sure to reach out to them in the near future of becoming a possible customer even though they’re based online.
Carmen and I continued to make our way throughout the room where we ran into other clothing lines, but again I was able to check my temptation at the door.
I felt like I was at a mini version of a Bloomingdales, Sax Fifth or Nordstroms, and clearly this was a great way for the perfect LA business brand to market themselves in a way that consumers can find them by the interactions with their shoppers.
On our way out we shopped off at a table that had been the beverages they mixed with our earlier cocktails. LifeHouse tonics which is a natural blend of juicy goodness. If you’re the type to take on a ritual cleanse, then this is the spot to become familiar with. With my 15% discount, I’m definitely making sure to make myself comfortable as a new customer especially if their drinks taste as good as the drink I had limiting the alcohol.
Throughout the evening I was so tuned into the sounds coming from the speakers that had been playing where I wasn’t even aware of a women clearly being the voice behind the music. It was sultry and hip like that of a cross duo with a Calvin Harris mix and that girl you never actually see in his music videos. Brave. Surprisingly, I was taken aback being that she was really good. With music influences such as Amy Wine House, Lauryn Hill, Lilly Allen and Disclosure, it’s no wonder she took the business and music route to write for herself to tell a story through her lyrics. With the electronic feel, you wouldn’t find your average fist pumper but more so that feel good vibe allowing one to move with bliss and freedom.
You can further find her music on her Sound Cloud as well as her personal instagram at @OfficiallyBrave
Brave has that voice that you can’t exactly miss yet at the same time you’re not exactly sure where the voice is coming from unless your hypnotized by the presentation of her sound. Coming from a collectively gifted family of music I see her going far in her choice in style which is very much needed to drown out half the crap we have on air.
Carmen and I made our night short considering there wasn’t all that much more for us to do. While walking through the lobby, of course I noticed Mrs. Cynthia Bailey who I hadn’t realized was back in town from the last time we hung out. Excited, I introduced her to Carmen as I had been meaning to introduce the two of them and then introduced myself to her manager Terry. I explained to her that she should take advantage of the event going on and see if she could grab a few gift bags which at first she was unsure of, but that didn’t stop Terry who funny enough as quick as she was to hop inside, she was even quicker to run back out with two bags and a new leather jacket.
Within the matter of seconds we all made our way back into the event and past the line where Cynthia was treated like royalty just like I expressed she would be. Thanks to me each vendor struck gold as Cynthia made a promise to post photos in order to promote their brands and just like that, Cynthia was given anything she had her eye on. Of course there was some deliberation as to what looked good and what wouldn’t, but all that mattered was that she continued to stay absolutely fabulous.
Carmen and I were growing antsy due to our hunger which is why we were leaving early, but that was up until Cynthia and Terry heard the words food that we shortly decided to go grab a bite for some chili cheese fries and hot dogs down the street from the planted train on Sunset Blvd.
I guess I can say that on this particular full moon everything was just right and for the most part absolutely stylish and perfect!
