Halloween is over! All weirdos, creeps may go back to your daily normal routines and lives…oh wait…that is the norm so carry on!
During this Halloween year as the excitement grew, my excitement faded. The thought of parties, festivities and what to wear just didn’t interest me. Thinking of how much money I would spend on one outfit seemed stupid when I had so many others, yet just like those others, I’ve already worn them, plus I’m a creative thinker so how creative would it be to look just as stale as everyone else’s attire.
This year started off with a few events just to pump up my old aged spirits remember my black don’t crack so good luck with that math. The first up was a movie premiere by a director, Romane Simon, whom Aubreeanna had met previously at Sam Sarpongs event. Last review. Now while Aubreeanna is still somewhat fresh and new to the Los Angeles routine, I myself walk through the clouds of smoke with high beams and give the mirrors to the next poor sap who just got off a plane to check their lipstick or hair. Smoke and mirrors ; Someone or something that distorts from the truth.
The movie premiere highlighted this directors Horror Flick called “Fason Nou” with a celebrity cast of I haven’t a clue who these people are, Liz Fuller, Issac Singleton Jr. and Mindy Robinson. Now minded, the poster looks legit aside from the extra printing at the top emphasizing the location for just about every and any street walker to attend. Considering that the last event took me a little off my intial skepticism, I gave this one a go with just one thing missing…where’s the Rsvp to encourage my strict attendance? I would never consider Glendale as an option for a premiere of anything other than the Americana Mall similar to The Grove, so I was curious as to how this was going to pan out. Once we got to the location at MGN five star cinema a little after the 6 o’clock red carpet, we looked around and of course not to our surprise we see a poster with some type of sponsering and a red rarpet the size of my bath mats. Oh this should be good
There wasn’t any type of coordinating directing the “Celebrities” from the public and I barely saw any media other than a female writing down names on her note pad with what looked like a basic camera. Typically I’ve become familiar with a few faces that pop up at every event worth attending even if it means creating a few clones to make each one. Not here though. Because Aubreeanna dressed incredibly cute and well I looked like, Don’t give 2 whatsshe again gained most of the attention. Good thing she did because
So as some shorter older gentleman asked for her picture then realizing I was with her, he then asked me to join as well. This became a problem. Everybody including their mothers, their grandmother’s, well actually some were, and their hot mess of a hair hats and
costumes which I’m assuming were their actual clothing were All on the red carpet. Okay, I can see where this will be going and end soon. While waiting for the directors presence we chose to eat at the restaurant lounge right next door considering that the movie didn’t officially start until 7:30
As we waited our friends,Sam Sarpong, and his videographer, Jovi, who popped up and sat with us. We weren’t expecting to see the two of them until later in the evening for Sams Halloween party. Since Sam was running a little behind to make the red carpet or what was left of it, we grabbed some food until we decided to mix and mingle with the crowd that was building up. As more and more people came the more I questioned the credibility of this event. If I were to do a comparison between those in the lounge and those at the premiere, it was two complete altered worlds. Going from a nice chic crowd to a cracked out looking Dolly Parton, grease stained dresses and a woman with nails so damn long I’d be afraid of her hygiene, my red flag went up.
Finally we ran into Sam who was mingling with some friends and we paid our bill to get the show started. Now before it was a little more tamed with those taking photos on the red carpet, but now it was sheer utter chaos. There was a huge lack of coordination, no organization or structure and where’s this cast?! Granted they’ve done more straight to videos than I have and a few blink worthy or one liner parts, but build the credit where it can be taken.

As time passed so did my patience. We never got to see the movie because since the time of it needing to start within the 7:30 mark it was now 9 o’clock and we were still just sitting around waiting. So we left and as Jay Z would say… On to the Next One.
Photoed at the bottom is my boy Actor, Model Talon Reid who was featured in the video.
Okay, so remember I had stated that Halloween this year just wasn’t going to be my thing? Yeah well I lied. If I was going to go to a Halloween party it’s either all or nothing. So after the premiere of a poster board of a movie versus the actual movie, Aubreeanna and I raced back to our side of town, changed picked up a couple things for my last minute costume and made our way to The W Hotel in Hollywood to meet up with Sam. Aubreeanna changed into some cat ears while I wore a porcelain doll mask, a black hoodie and some prom looking dress my mother bought me just because I wanted it. So I figured why not be a black haunted porcelain doll
Hey I’m trying here and it beats some stupid whore outfit I could wear any other night.
Because we were running a little behind due to poor planning and no parking we had 15 mins to meet up with Sam and his gang of people. Once this parking queen parked, Parking Queen; Someone who can find a parking spot just about anywhere including your kitchen sink. We walked inside the W, met with Sam and moments later headed outside to wait for our Uber drivers he had ready for us. The first to pile in was Sam and his group of Boy London models and friends then the rest. Since the first car was ordered to come back, our last group waited. As Aubreeanna and I sat down, two girls approached us ampt up for the night. One stating she had just gotten off the plane from Miami and thrilled about being in Los Angeles as an *aspiring actress* looking to get her MBA. It wasn’t long until I could see the naiveness in her that I, without filter, laughed and told her Goodluck.
Oh you poor soul, I was once like you.
I then explained to her the dark side of this city speaking from experience, but then again my life is pretty freaking great considering what I’ve learned. I asked her who her contacts were as she pointed to her blonde friend, who too stuck out like a sore thumb. Apparently she met Sam previously during fashion week, which she stuttered to pronounce. I think I intimidated her, but hey, truth is a rare form of honesty in this city. Finally our Uber driver showed up as Sam patiently waited for our arrival. We were attending his party at a club called The Attic, never heard of it, but it was near Project LA so I figured it should be decent. WRONG! Once I scoped out the club I saw nothing but hoodlums and rachets. A huge change in dynamics from a well know celebrity hotspot one sidewalk away to a hotmess. Once we got in the line our group separated by other groups of slap sideways females who kept making it a point of how stupid they were with their back handed comments of Who’s Simon? Are we playing a game? No trick, Sam is the guy separating his group from the likes of you.
Aubreeanna and I had to literally squeeze our way past some females who I was so sure I’d have to rip off Aubreeanna if they underestimated her feistiness. The door guy of course took his job far too seriously for the amount he gets paid and the guy handing out the tickets clearly thought all black people looked alike when I asked him for my ticket. No shorty you did not hand this individual black female jack
Sam and his Boy London crew and the best looking bunch in the club
As we made our way up stairs Sam went straight into work mode with Jovi video recording every moment with his models and a few friends. I stood in the back and just observed. Not seconds later Miami girl steps on the dance floor seizuring with a dance move that was a few years outdated. What the hell is this girl doing?!? She then proceeds to make her way in front of the camera of Sam and his crew with her best fish lip pose and enormous size breast. Her shoes and clothes alone had the spotlight all on her. Apparently she got confused that California never gets cold. What a joke. I had to walk around at this point and let her live and learn. Clearly this was the wrong place for anyone trying to form their identity in Los Angeles.
There was no one of caliber, no one of substance, just a few faces from which I confused for mask. While being followed by some short guy who mistook me for Phantom of the Opera, not even my scare tactic response by telling him I was death, couldn’t even scare him away. I tried to make the best of my time, but I was completely out of my element. On top of that, I couldn’t take this night seriously. Now, had it of been next door then sure great that would get the right momentum going considering his Boy London line is pretty well established, but not here, so I simmered down and we called it a night and good riddance.
Halloween October 31st. ..one more day of this crazy season. Plans were up in the air and unfortunately when that happens you end up either staying at home or preparing yourself for a real crappie evening. Originally plans were to attend my girl-friends, Morgan, new nightclub The Reserve for their private soft opening in Downtown. I’ve never been downtown to attend a club so it was something new and different considering I probably would run into some of my former social circles. Aubreeanna couldn’t make it this time around so I went with Alison. I decided to slut it up for the last night and chose something I could really get sexy in all while being the same costume. A rain never hurts anyone and Alison was strutting the water in her little cat suit. When we entered the new building, yeah well…it was dead. The place was gorgeous and big enough to fit the entire city of Los Angeles, but for a soft opening I wondered how they would properly manage to fill up such a huge amount of space depending on who they hire as their promoters and from where. I hope they have consistency in who they let in as Downtown is its own section within this city
The walls, before entering The Vault were plastered with creepy Victorian photos of man versus wild as the head of animals were planted on the bodies of men and women. When entering the two separate rooms a glass section on the ground that had girls panicking to walk on, had a female laying under the glass who was occasionally harassed by drunkin bafoons. I’m sure butt crack, or vagina shots she could of done without as everyone walked over her glass. The dance floor was just like any typical club where it was as big as a living room for people to squeeze together, though not me I made my little circle to do my damn thing Werk .
My gorgeous Morgan got Alison a drink and I stayed dehydrated on my saliva as we walked around to scope out the new establishment. The place is ridiculously enormous. The back part clearly which they’re working on, is probably the patio area consisting of more VIP tables and hopefully another third dance area, but granted the time line that they have up till December, I wonder if they’ll ever have it ready by then. This place was hiring back in April and was supposed to have already been open by June or July. Either their game plan became a flop or time doesn’t equal money. I saw a few cute guys though I couldn’t really tell behind their mask and I’m sure I looked just as evil…nah I looked sexy as hell.
I ran into my other girl-friend, Brook, who I didn’t even realize got hired downtown. Her section in the vault was sadly empty which is not much of a hit or miss considering that they pull tips. The only problem is who wants to stand around while everyone in the other room is having all the fun. I can’t really say that some of the Hollywood kids would migrate all the way downtown since people tend to get comfortable in their daily surroundings, but once they get this place together and up and running, I’m sure that all will change. All in all this night wasn’t a flop. I had a great time, I saw my girl-friends, pulled off my last minute costume and my hair stayed dried. This time next year who’s to tell what I might be or where we might end up, but as my mask comes off I’ll say goodnight and slip off into the shadows
UPDATE!!!!
After having a one on one sit down with Sam, my eyes were surgically widened to see the bigger picture of our previous night. Foolish me for not looking into the actual invite that Aubreeanna so vaguely told me about, had I of known, things would have been a lot different. Sam was only hosting for the club. Thank god! Clearly Sam and I were on the same page when I asked him about it. I was under the impression that this was His actual Halloween party, and had wondered who all these random looking people were.
Here’s one thing I’ve grown to appreciate and respect about this guy in such a short amount of time. He’s as humble as they get. I give myself credit for trying to stay true to who I am as a person whose been jaded beyond the actual color, but this guy is on a whole different level of humility. I could definitely learn a lot from him. As he mingled with guest and moved away from being planted in just one area like most hosting celebrities do, he took it to another level of interaction. So it was only fair to assume that it was his party, but he was only genuinely separating himself from the common perception. Sam, you ultimately did it again. People aren’t riding your coat tail of success, they actually respect you, and that my friend is respectable!
