Singers, Bands and Artist alike that find music as the piano key to their hearts, this is the Music gathering and social party you want to attend. Food trucks, open bars, and mingling are typically what would have some of your Hollywood veterans and rookies all in the same atmosphere, but on this particular night it was the whose The Next American Idol without the actual show. The only question is that, was it the battle of exposure in the lot of Capitol Records or was it all smoking mirrors in a “Pitching perfect” race for who can gain the most media attention to get to the next round of super stardom.
The Lot party was filled with young inspiring artist and trend setters even though some of the trends have already be done, recycled and repeated from10 to 15 years ago, when now it just appears to be a desperation act all for the sake of a music identity.
There really isn’t all that much originality these days where dressing up in something that you would only find in a costume shop on Hollywood Blvd tends to be a bit much. Even Katy Perry knows when she’s on and off the stage and Rihanna well…she just doesn’t give a flying *$%#.
Rich White Ladies (Looks around) wait am I missing something here? were definitely attention grabbers with their flashy clothing and composed demeanor. Unlike their fellow artist who looked like four mirrored outdated baby spices from the 90s group Spice Girls. Who could you see down the road at the Grammys or American Music Awards? And I’m not speaking in terms of seat fillers.
Makes you wonder about the longevity in the music industry. Who is more aware and willing to come to terms that this moment might come and go or that one might outshine another in the long haul. Who will recognize that sometimes we just need to see the artist underneath the paint and costume to understand who the artist really is and what they’re about. Better yet whose just genuinely striving to do their own thing and not mooch off of other artists milestones. Thats Hollywood for you!
While everyone else seemed to be all on one page with no pressure on our part as we were there to enjoy the evening,
somehow we managed to catch the attention of some very lively individuals that in turn gave us life. We had fun we danced a little and continued to observe without trying to give off the false impression that we were artist ourselves. Clears throat Smoking Mirrors
Which reminds me
I love the girl or guy who is continously boasting about being in the recording studio 24/7, but seems to be aging faster than they’re dropping hits. (I guarantee you if you even took a cat nap your hussle will be in the same place) or the girl/guy who just needs to belt out a note every time when describing another artist or a song. Ok I get it…you’re looking for your next big break but unfortunately Im not the freaking judge of breaking that deal.
Aside from that there were very down to earth artist that seemed to have more experience awhile blending in with everyone else. Very admirable, shows that they’re far more approachable to engage in a normal conversation.
Considering that Elle (To the left) was able to point out the talented Tori Kelly in a crowd, she was kind enough to know that when there’s a fan there is always going to be that humble moment of being on and off the clock. What makes an artist more recognizable? The one who saves the “act” until getting on stage or the one who will eventually run out of ideas. Well to each is owns answer to that question but either way I’ll just sit back and observe until we’re old and grey and see if all the famous quotes “I’ll sleep when I’m dead” “Grind Time” “Hustle and Flow” ect will follow through or if some are just destined for destiny without the wasted bits.
“No amount of hussle could replace the little things in life that might end up being your happiest moment than you think you have now”.
