Fashion Fridays

TOPSHOP FASHION

Topshop was first introduced to me by my mother during our yearly trip to New York. Feeling adventurous, she took me down to SoHo for a little shopping spree which then ended up tweaking my idea of style and fashion. Compared to Nordstrom which I worked at for several years straight out of high school,  just seemed so ocd ridden and stuffy where as Topshop had life; I became a puppy outside its cage bouncing too and from the front and back and running up and down the stairs. The bold colors I think is what had me going into a frenzy like a moth to light, but in a good way so to speak. Screw the editorial high fashion magazines that girls rummage through to get their next bright idea, this was all I needed.

Alright moving to the present world. Its only been a couple of years since the time that Topshop and Topman first opened their store at The Grove off of Fair fax and 3rd where you’ll see young aspiring  models and fashionistas wearing the clothing stores designs; but at this past Topshop Endless Summer tour, I felt like I was walking around in a major fashion blog post. It was a bit awkward trying to take photos of different groups of people both discreetly and with their blessings, but I was able to take some great looks to add to my Fashion Friday mega hitter.

Alright who’s first

You know when you get that feeling that a camera is taking your photo from afar and you strike a pose because that camera dare not get a bad angle… yeah well this is what I figured this stylish diva dressed in all black was doing while everyone else around naturally slouched. You do your thing boo!

These triple bombshells were the prettiest little things that could catch any guys attention. They mixed sex appeal with  summer fashion that made their look, look fun, sizzling and easy going. Nothing complex about their style, but very comfortable for a perfect day in the park or any out door activity. What I liked about their look is that they weren’t afraid to show their womanly figures while still keeping it respectable in a way for it to still catch glances from admirers. Just enough to roll around in the grass, jump around in the inflatable jump house or chill with a bunch of your girlfriends. From head to toe, these girls rocked their looks.

Speaking of… yaaaaaas! They would do Tyra Banks proud. Even the duck face pouts were too fierce for this groups pose. The one at the top left, I had to scold for hiding her gorgeous glowing face behind a pair of sunglasses, but the one still wearing them, you can’t tell them nothing while that face should be on the cover of a Vogue magazine. Every young nerds fantasy to see a beautiful woman wearing teacher glasses for the one at the bottom while looking like she just came out of physics Maxim centerfold spread. The other three are as cute as buttons who just give me life like they were the life of the party. The entire group blended so well even with seeing their individual style that best suits them. The biggest fashion statement I’ll say they had was their entire energy. Beauty inside as well as out.

From the umbrellas to the gold background, these girls still managed to stand out in their attire. A very simple look to put together, but still capable to make a fashion statement on its own. Is it enough to say that I failed to see that pink floaty think while admiring their look?

This is Eward Zo, and I definitely snuck this one in behind his personal photographer. He was by far one of thee cutest, stylish and sexiest walking fashion statements that I spotted at this event. From his smile to his hair, I’d say he’s perfection at its finest, but maybe a little too perfect for the outer appearance. For a moment, he caught me off guard a while back when he surprisingly started following me on instagram just to give me a rise of excitement; and then when my numbers didn’t match his, it all became  just a bittersweet phase for the moment. I’ve got the follow app buddy! I don’t think I really care about his style because this guy is just plain gorgeous. Okay, so he looks like he just came back from a Hawaiian trip and threw on some hiking boots for the hike up to the party, but I guarantee you that if you follow him and all his other outlets you can see the rest of his other looks. @EdwardZo . He puts the zing in persuading me.

Speaking of zing, this team duo worked the hell out of their look. While she is magnificently beautiful, he is a hip and trendy charmer. Even their matching hair style, which can only work for a small selection of people, caught my eyes. They’re giving seniors a run for their money. What was once a sign of depressing age, is now a huge fashion statement amongst the young, hip and trendy. The phrase “silver fox” that can typically be used in describing middle aged desirable men and women, can now be reversed in describing the idea of someone who sets the standards of rocking silver hair. Also, a silver fox is a rare breed of the actual red fox, so being that only so many people can pull this look off, I guess the concept meets the term.

This handsome gent, definitely brought the British Mod and a Vivienne Westwood punk glam style to the party; Straight out of a window visual display with the attitude to match.  Funny enough, while  I was taking photos of him, we were both asked to pose for the drones capturing all that was going on for a live broadcast, being that we both were practically dressed alike in matching colors.

This lovely beauty fell on this just because… well look at her! She’s absolutely breathtaking. But mostly I approached her because of her hair, which truthfully speaking, is my goal to achieve “hair goals”. Now that many black women are embracing their natural roots with their intricate hair regiments, we’re finding new ways to allow the beauty in our hair flourish. Naturally, my hair happens to look like this, but because it takes a lot of time, patience and products to maintain, I just prefer to work with a look that’s much more manageable. Either way , her look is definitely a fashion statement that many women of color are working to have.

Last but not least… here’s to tooting my own horn. Listen, as much as I love fashion and the originality of some looks that people are able to put together, I just go with whatever I find in my never-ending closet. For all my many layers, hence mutable personalities, I dress to what fits them.

And that’s my Fashion Friday for this week so stay trendy peeps and remember it’s not about what you’re wearing, it’s about how it makes you feel.
