Being a girl can be one heck of a treat when you get to cover yourself in lace, silk and crystal stones. Shining bright like a diamond.
While at times it seems like a luxury getting all dolled up 24/7 in order to keep up with an image of dainty rose lilies and sparkles, socializing in a room full of the most delicacies of all delicacies could easily urge your senses of that womanly essence.
Earlier in the week, I received a Blogger Babes notice for a cocktail party being held at the Naked Princess boutique in West Hollywood. Hosted by model and reality tv personality Tia Shipman, the event showcased looks from different designers in a room full of fashionistas, socialites and bloggers alike.
The event was catered towards a selected group of Blogger Babes affiliates and guest to preview a line of brides maids dresses designed by Pia Gladys Perey and Caterina Jewelry to accessorize each look during a installation fashion show and walk through. Incentives for guest included gift bags shown as appreciation for attendance as well as give away prizes of personally selected items from the designers lines.
As a Blogger Babes affiliate, I felt it my obligation to attend and become acquainted with other members in our social community by rsvping. I arrived a little past the time that the event had started once I found parking on the street in the Melrose neighborhood, but I managed to make it just in time for the fashion show itself.
As soon as I checked in, I was asked to have my photo taken for a step and repeat against a flower wall promoting each designers name. At first I was a bit hesitant to have my photo taken, but considering being a Blogger Babes, I needed to represent their brand and image by representing myself.
The outside ambiance was just like that of a wedding theme with guest sipping champagne while some adorned selected pieces from the Pia Gladys line. I had just missed the catering of food but was able to grab one last tray of mozzarella stuffed cherry tomatoes in a balsamic vinegar dressing. Right as soon as I walked into the room, I made my way into the back where I was told the fashion event was ready to begin. A female dj in a flower print lingerie romper spinned her tunes while a nail bar in the next room over allowed women to get treated to a mini manicure.
The boutique was gorgeous like that of a princess fluff palace with a large selection of lace pieces both tops, bottoms, and silk slips. People crowded around the reserved seating area for guest that were able to receive a front row view of the show, but luckily I met up with two other bloggers who cleverly pulled out a seating bench from one of the dressing rooms in order to get an equal close up view.
I spotted our very own Blogger Babes co-founder Heidi Nazarudin looking as lovely as ever in an original Pia dress and Caterina necklace who sat in between us as we had our photos taken by a photographer.
The runway started with a collaboration between the three designers that paired well with each others collection for the party guest. The first show began with the Naked Princess ensembles worn by models with an enticing presentation allowing guest to preview while they posed sitting on the furniture. While I do find lingerie extremely sexy and this line very tempting, unfortunately I prefer sleeping in the nude. Literally.
But in this town, it’s not too uncommon to find lingerie pieces as an option to wear out with a pair of jeans and heels. It all depends on how well you rock it.
During the intermission, I took advantage of an outlet near by from where I had been sitting being that I was limited on my battery usage.
Prior to the event invite, we were asked to take photos and selfies, but with a cookie monster draining my battery, I needed to charge up as much and as quickly as I could.
I also took advantage of the open whiskey bar outside on the lighted back patio. A straight shot of whiskey might be doing a little too much being that I stick to a 2% amount of liquor in my drinks, but with this being Cinco De Mayo and all, their brand mixologist Doug had a different idea in mind. He was asked to pair his whiskey with the Mexican holiday and came up with a concoction that I surely believe has never been done before. A GlenMorangie whiskey margarita. Now I’m the furthest from any alcoholic that you’ll know, but I definitely know that most, if not all, margaritas are primarily designed for Tequila. Whiskey on the other hand has a rich sweet taste that I’ve personally grown accustomed to, so I wasn’t a girl to turn my nose up at the idea. Initially the brands rep Claudia made me my first margarita with the blend of whiskey, sour mix and a black cherry.
It was absolutely delicious, but the moment Doug made his way to the table, my world changed. Doug mixed the black berries with the actual sour mix and whiskey together which landed me with about five glasses by the end of the night. I would’ve been that single bridesmaid at the bar trying to catch a date with the bartender in your typical single girl movie, but this was real life and so I kept it classy with a drink in hand.
Thankfully I finished my drink fast enough to catch the next showing of Pia Gladys line and her models. Even though I have yet to plan a wedding of my own or even become someone else’s bridesmaid, these dresses were more than stunning enough to wear to any cocktail party, awards ceremony or just to keep in the back of your closet as a lonely reminder of just how single you really are.
The shows finale ended with the talented designer Pia and co-host model Tia in gorgeous Greek goddess gowns that made me even more amped up to win the contest by doing a selfie with these two behind me.
I was still struggling to keep what little bit of battery I had charged, but the moment an announcement was made that by posting selfies with the Caterina line could get you a chance at winning a piece from her collection, I took what little bit of percentage I had and headed towards the jewelry presentation.
With only 9% on my phone, I didn’t necessarily take a selfie but instead took a photo of this beautiful bracelet while creating a background.
The night was almost coming to an end and everything was beginning to wrap up. While I grabbed one last drink from my favorite mixologist, Pia and Tia, love how these names are so much the same, took photos outside with family and friends and made a toast amongst each other for a night well done. As we all individually made our way back inside, I had the chance to personally meet Pia and tell her how much I admired her line. In return, she stated she admired my vintage jacket which she is accustomed to working with in its fabrics. Pia is a wonderfully humbled woman who has a lot of talent in showing women in all areas of their beauty through her dresses, but what I love even more about her line is how versatile her dresses can be.
While heading out the door and one last glimpse at the Caterina line, it didn’t occur to me that the actual designer was an acquaintance of mine through an old former friend. I haven’t seen her in a year which came to a surprise considering that she was working on a completely different line before. Immediately after she had recognized me, we shared a hug and I congratulated her on her success. What a small world.
While I wasn’t able to make a purchase at that very moment, her line definitely falls in the price range that is reasonable for any trendsetter.
Although I initially thought twice about attending a night out previewing dresses for a life I have yet to have, I am happy that I still went. On the other hand if there’s an event for bridal dresses, then the bar might just have to be my friend till the very end of the evening.
