We’ve all woken up to the weekend cartoons, we might even have a little secret fascination with toy action figurines of different power fighting drawings and yes many, like myself are fans of the long going horror thrills. Well here at the Anime Convention you will find human versions of everything you only thought exist behind someones creative and or demented mind.
One of the biggest yearly expos other than E3 and ComicCon, that people drive miles, run to (this guy literally is flying! as both feet are off the ground) is very much expected with thousands of kids, pre-teens and even adults who somehow froze time, to attend this weekend festival.
Ha! Look even the “Holier than thous” (Religious groups) made it out. They would find a perfect opportunity. Clearly its much easier than going door to door when you have a bull horn and half the world in one portion of the city to blast your preaching to. The crowds were unphased going about their sword fighting, card collecting and Mega Trons, swarming the streets which felt like a fish trying to swim upstream.
Don’t call them weird, don’t call them freaks, and don’t call them nerds. I can say hands down you will find some of the most generous, genuine and intellectual people behind these very exuberant, creative and well thought out costumes. (Where the hell do they sell these costumes?) Most likely with such a large imagination these are solely hand crafted. I guess Halloween comes three times a year (ComicCon included unless dressing up is a normal day in their life) but this…oh yeah you can tell they’ve waited all year for.
You’d be surprised at some attractive fans in the mix who dress up as their favorite bulked up characters Yu-Gi-Oh or cute as a button Sailor Moon. The “Cool Kids” have received far more credit than they’re deserving of compared to these groups of people. There isn’t even a pinch of sincerity in half the people in this city, which is why its such a breath of fresh air when the Anime kids come into town. BOOM!
Now if you’re a foody like I am (Can’t beat my metabolism) then you’ll be at every truck parked in the lots for the expo. The India Jones food truck is one of my favorites next to The Bun Truck, and The Grilled Cheese Truck. You better believe I get buttered up with their butter chicken.
I clearly wasn’t the only foody as I was able to catch a few fans with their plates of heart wrentching, mouth worthy concoctions
Omg….I can’t even deal. That is a waffle topped with banana slices ice cream and caramel. With two different waffle trucks this might have to be my next stop. For all the girls that have food issues during the bikini and modeling season (Not if your agency is Facebook, Instagram or a bathroom)…take a big bite out of reality because this right here is what we call Food Coma!
I dont even know what they were eating but it definitely had a lot going on although it went well with everything else surrounding us. I did adore these girls costumes though
GET IN MY BELLY! Guys forget the flowers just take me to a buffet and I’ll be happy and that whole thing with etiquette of leaving something on your plate ha! Not even the crumbs. Sorry mommy but etiquette classes could only teach me so much that I could care about. My friend Morgan and I decided to join in on the fun for a second time around. The Waffle Truck and the Hawaiian Shaved Ice are a must! Are y’all hungry yet?!
With so much going on inside its hard to be appreciated for all the effort put into these days and here set up you could have your “HeadShot” taken to remember all of the memorable events.
As the day started to shorten, going into the next, people made their way back to their cars back to their gatherings and to relax.
Lets give huge props to all the parents who also dragged their feet and attended the expo. Ive heard on numerous accounts “My mother is the best” blah bla bla. No. The parents of these kids are by far the best that they’ve endured the crowds, the heat and the new languages spoken through a fictional character all in the name of love and support. Many of them camped out in restaurants (Sorry to blow your cover) hid in corners and a few actually dressed up themselves. You rock!
On my ending note thank you ALL for being you and I can’t wait until next year….but can we try to change up the schedule till after the 4th? Id like to crisp up on the beach next year. Just a food for thought
