While I’m not a fan of social media and the popularity contest that follows behind (how ironic), I will say that at times, social media can be used for a more positive platform with the sole purpose of bringing people together.
Aside from one half of the social media spectrum that has given people the competitive tool in succeeding through ones very own narcissism, vanity or greed, the other half is focused on the good nature of getting people more involved in the fun loving world they’re living in.
Topshop and Topman, is known for being the gift that just keeps on giving. Since the time they first opened their store at The Grove in 2013, with celebrity appearances from Fifth Harmony and a special performances by Demi Lovato, Top Shop continues to use their PR advantages to keep people talking; especially when they have a natural way of creating a series of summer events which allows their team to work with emerging new talent and artist. I remember the The Grove being taken over by crowds of fans showing excitement for the new Los Angeles store opening. In return, gifts were handed out to those standing in line with a free concert. The amount of media coverage allowed for special celebrity events and parties being thrown with a massive amount of support given back in return for those that supported the brand and it hasn’t stopped there.
The TopShop Endless Summer Tour , made its last rounds in Los Angeles with food, activities, music and a full open bar. Initially, Topshop went to social media, Facebook, to announce their major city tour where thousands of the stores shoppers and fans responded by getting free wristbands without purchase. What a steal. It’s not everyday that you’ll find such a huge brand reaching out to a community of people without a few loopholes involved.

Here, TopShop, TopMan and a collaboration with iamsound , who is sought after by many music lovers looking for any given opportunity to work with the creative label, hosted this major city event in order to initiate a “come one come all” festivity bringing music and fashion together. In return, during two separate Los Angeles locations, one at The Tropicana Roosevelt Pool and the other at Montecillo De Leo Politi Park, the team received a huge turn out with some of the most fashionable and liveliest groups of people.
Their first stop at The Roosevelt, was a bit cramped considering they had to use a more secluded area away from where the hotel guest and a few locals were unwinding by the pool. Either way, those who attended, found themselves amongst friends and fellow music lovers who all enjoyed themselves to free drinks cushioned by pink flamingo floats, ice cream, fruit cups garnished with chili and lime and a live performance by the young popular artist, Shamir
who musically gravitated through the indie pop and electronic world. I found myself bouncing to his catchy beats and lyrics while a crowd surrounded the stage.
Though I didn’t get there until the last half hour of the event, within that time frame, I felt I got just as much of the experience that all other guest gained for the full day.
With their second stop near Echo park, I made sure to plan ahead so I could get there on time to enjoy myself from the beginning till the end. Parking was near a public park and from there a shuttle awaited as guest were given a ride up the hill to where everything was set up on an open field of grass. This time around, iamsound and Topshop went all or nothing for their guest by having catered bbq for the first hour of everyone’s arrival. I never say no to food and neither did anyone else who helped themselves to many options as well as a full open bar. The grass field was generously decorated with original lawn towel rugs and gorgeous Japanese inspired umbrellas to cool everyone down from the overbearing heat; of course that came with a first come first serve notion, but leave it to the free loving neighbors on the rugs sitting next to you who were more than willing to share what was only given to them.
With the amount of space to appease everyone’s attention span, a few extra added activities were brought in. An inflatable bounce house, a mini hair salon, flower head piece crafting, games and the entertaining athletic couple doing yoga stunts.
I originally came by myself, but it didn’t take long for a young smooth talker to make small talk with myself and a few if not all the Topshop beauties in arms reach. The positive energy surrounding the area allowed individuals to meet one another and leave with new friends and future connections; bloggers, stylist, social media gurus, were all able to find that common ground with one another. It’s not everyday that you also run into people from back home that can make the experience all the more pleasant though.
This cool cat Eddie, recognized me from over six years ago since the last time seeing him in Orange County, with whom we once shared mutual friends with. As soon as we made our way to the bar, where I made an innocent pact with the bartender in saving each pour of Moscato just for me, that immediately gave us the happy buzz amongst our quirky crew allowing us to enjoy our time together rather than in separate cliques.
The phrase “You can’t sit with us” was left at the bottom of the hill only leaving the option of a welcome mat.
Guest were dressed to impress with their very own creative style. A fashion bloggers blissful moment to write about for their next inspired trend post.
Although I wouldn’t refer to myself as a fashion blogger, I at times still admire a great look that someone is wearing regardless if it’s not within the fashion sense that all could agree to. Check out my opinions on my TopShop Fashion Friday post. A drone that hovered above the field was able to capture the entire area while people interacted with one another for their live social channel broadcasting on Topman Tv. Because it was live, hopefully they didn’t catch anyone doing things they wouldn’t want viewers to see. Digging for gold, stealing the last bite of pork sliders or the heavenly trip and fall down the stairs.
The “come one come all” was also open to a few of our furry friends who would’ve been miserable if left at home knowing their was enough room to run a mini tail wagging marathon. I couldn’t resist with the little ones as they were too precious to pass up sharing snuggles with. This little 3 month old pup got all my love and kisses, but like with any puppy, he wore himself out.
The photo area was definitely put to good use while groups of friends posed in front of a gold backdrop holding TopShop, TopMan signs. Do for you as you do for me, was taken into consideration, so that each photo could have an entire group in the shot leaving no man out. It also gave me the opportunity to sneak in a snap shot of familiar faces especially like this one right here.
Edward Zo, the social media hunk who grew his success by his gorgeous good looks and fun personality. I might not appear to be the shy type, but he makes me giggle, so I passed up the moment in meeting him and left happy with just a photo.
Towards the end of the last hour, it was time to wrap up and for everyone to make their way back to the shuttles heading back down to our cars. A performance began on the stage, but by that time my world was spinning on Moscato and happy thoughts. I’ve found that Topshop has a signature trademark with giving out gift cards placed in tote bags that holds a surprising dollar amount. I had no shame in rummaging through the left behind totes making sure no gift cards were left behind so that I may find good use for them. No shame at all. I mean who doesn’t love gift cards for a free day of shopping? Even then, the totes are cute enough to use for a trip to the grocery store or as a casual carrying around bag.
The only thing I can say I regret, is not grabbing an ice cream before it was all taken. Womp womp. Even though I’m sure I could’ve grabbed one from your nearest liquor store, but it just taste better when it’s being handed out by a 50’s era ice cream man.
All I can say is that this second time around, I had an absolute blast and look forward to any other future events they decide to put on. Their next pit stops, I’m sure fans will be awaiting the same amount of precise details to an entertainment field day of fun and if you go to their links, you’ll also find what cities will be near you.
Thank you iamsound, Topman and Topshop. You definitely cherry topped my summer plans! And to think this was all done for us. Now that’s something to truly appreciate.
